This is not just any World Championships.......this is the mega World's. Similar to Glasgow in 2023, the 2027 UCI World Championships in Haute-Savoie, France will see 19 UCI Gold Medals up for grabs.
The news of our regions candidature was a low key launch back in February 2022. Fast forward to September and the UCI Congress announced the success of our bid.
The lastime we had the UCI Worlds in our region was the 1980 UCI World Championships. Based in Sallanches, Haute Savoie, the Cote de Domancy was the key feature climbed 20 times, nearly 6000M, with only 15 finishers, French hero Bernard Hinault took the win. To this day the 1980 UCI World Championship course is considered one of the toughest. In an and around Domancy and Sallanches we have a number of features that celebrate Hinaults win in 1980.
